The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe condemns the violations against Christians and Islamic monuments in North Iraq
Successive reports continue to speak of the grave violations perpetrated against Christian denominations, and historical Islamic monuments in North Iraq.
The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe condemns in the strongest terms the pressures put on Christian denominations in Mosul and North Iraq, with forced expulsion from their homes and homeland, and considers this an attempt to terrorise society, and tear apart the historically established social fabric of this land of ancient civilisations.
The Federation vigorously denounces the unjust discriminatory practices against Christians and others, which are a slander against Islam, and violate its noble teachings, and declares its solidarity with all those harmed by the policy of expulsion and other grave violations. The Federation follows with increasing alarm the serial and systematic destruction of Islamic religious and historical monuments in Mosul and North Iraq, and considers this a dangerous development that cannot pass without action.
The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe demands an immediate halt to these measures and practices, security for all inhabitants and religious groupings, a return of those expelled to their areas to live peacefully without being targeted, discriminated against, or restricted in their freedom of worship, while assuring immunity for Islamic religious and historical monuments in their diversity from destruction or vandalism.
